Bread Twists

These are my new go-to bread sticks for two reasons - taste and time. They have a wonderful buttery/garlic flavor and the kosher salt adds a delightful savory crunch.  The other thing I love about these is how quickly they come together.  It only takes one hour from start to finish.  One hour!  That's almost unheard of for a yeast bread.  Try these out next time you want some bread with your dinner but are short on time.

Breadtwists (Our version of The Pizza Factory Breadtwists)
from Favorite Family Recipes

1½ cups warm water
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. yeast

Let that sit for 5 minutes. Then add:

3½ cups flour
1 tsp Salt

Mix until smooth then let raise for 10 minutes. Roll out dough into a large square on a floured surface. Brush with melted (real) butter mixed with minced garlic and then sprinkle with kosher salt. Fold in half and cut into 1 inch strips. Twist and place on a cooking sheet. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes to raise. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately after baking, brush with more garlic butter and sprinkle with kosher salt and grated parmesan cheese.

*Dough also makes a great pizza dough, just roll out into a large circle, add your favorite toppings, and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

Note:  When working with yeast breads, I don't ever add the full amount of flour at the beginning.  I usually start about a cup short of what it calls for then slowly add a few tablespoons at a time until the bread is tacky (meaning the bread feels sticky but it doesn't come off onto my finger when I touch it).

I saw you on the OBB show and tell. We live down the street from a pizza factory. These look fabulous. I'd love it if you stopped by my blog to share these at my link party. http://acraftycook.blogspot.com/2012/03/1-month-of-fun-march-link-party.html

Chicken Salad Sandwiches with Fruit and Almonds

Chicken salad sandwiches seem to be the go to item for baby and bridal showers.  I wanted to make some for the baby shower, but had a dillema.   While I like the main components in the salad, I really do not like the taste of raw onions and celery.  However, I still wanted some crunch and flavor in the salad.

Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps

I am always looking for fast, easy and nutritious meals for my busy weeknight meals.  These wraps have become one of our family favorites.  We serve these with a side of wontons or potstickers to complete the meal. The filling can be made ahead of time and reheated if your day is extra busy. Bibb lettuce is our favorite, but feel free to use iceberg or even romaine for this dish. I hope you enjoy these as much as we do!

Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

The name says it all. These cookies are my (and my husband's) favorite cookies! Not just your average chocolate chip cookies, these babies come out of the oven with a slightly crisp outside while still remaining soft on the inside. Use Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Chips and you will have achieved chocolate chip cookie perfection!
