Apple Caramel Cobbler

This cobbler ( which is really more of a crisp in my opinion ) is a delicious twist on an old favorite. My mother-in-law passed this recipe to me along with a glowing recommendation. She is an excellent cook, so when she says something is good, I listen! I'm glad I did. This cobbler is so good! Granny Smith apples are tossed with sugar and spices, drizzled with caramel, then covered with a crispy oatmeal-brown sugar topping. It smells amazing in the oven and tastes even better. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water. Do yourself a favor and go make some! *note: this was originally a dutch oven recipe so I've scaled it down.

The Best Frosting

For Tyler's birthday this year I tried a new frosting recipe. Most frosting is heavy and very sweet. This recipe is light in texture and just the right sweetness. It would be great for those Halloween Sugar Cookies! This frosting takes some advance planning since the frosting needs time to cool so plan ahead!

Greek Salad

This has to be my all time favorite salad. Simply ingredients and a simple and tangy dressing to go on it. I love to serve this salad with a flank steak, turkey burgers or even baked chicken. If you love feta then I am sure this will become one of your favorite salads as well.

Mini Omelettes

Sorry for the long break in recipes! I got a crazy idea to take my family to Washington D.C. for a long weekend! If you have never been, you should plan a time and go. There was so much to see, learn and experience. We saw D.C., Baltimore, Gettysburg and Mt Vernon. Plus all the trees were turning, apples were being picked and the weather was amazing! Being out of town, I have not been doing much cooking but here is a very simple but fun breakfast my kids love to make. I but bowls out of all different types of fillings, and they create their own omelette. When Mike is out of town we eat this for dinner with muffins!

Savory Stuffed Spiral Rolls

When I saw these rolls on Mel's Kitchen Cafe I knew immediately I had to make them. They sounded absolutely delicious stuffed with cream cheese, ham, broccoli, and even more cheese ! I am here to tell you that they did not dissapoint. I had way more than my share and ended up feeling extremely full the rest of the night. I just couldn't help myself. They are so good! Try them out sometime and see for yourself.

Buttermilk Banana Bread

I was really surprised to see I had never posted this recipe! I took a recipe that was not bad and made it perfect, at least in my opinion. This banana bread is moist inside, but with the brown sugar on top, crunchy on the outside. Sometimes I add mini chocolate chips or chopped nuts to the recipe just for something new, but you can make it plain as well. Good recipe to have as a staple in your recipe book!

Pumpkin-Cinnamon Strudel Buns( Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls)

As promised, here is my new treasure. Once October hits, I want to make anything with pumpkin or apples. This recipe is one that I will continue to make over and over again. They are fast, easy and yummy! I love the filling for these. Instead of melting out the bottom, it melts slowly and stays in the roll, perfect! Enjoy these melt in your mouth gems!!

Chicken Pot Pies

OK, so this recipe wasn't hard, but it did take a long to make. I boiled my own chicken and made my own chicken broth. I think if you use her short cut of canned broth and a rotisserie chicken from the store, it would be much faster. It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed having a little bowl for their dinner. The crust of these pies was amazing! You make it with cream cheese which gave it a smooth and flaky texture. The only this I would do differently is add more broth to the chicken mixture. It was a little to think for me once it was cooked in the oven! Please give these a try, they were fun to make as well as to eat!

Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies

The name says it all. These cookies are my (and my husband's) favorite cookies! Not just your average chocolate chip cookies, these babies come out of the oven with a slightly crisp outside while still remaining soft on the inside. Use Ghiradelli Milk Chocolate Chips and you will have achieved chocolate chip cookie perfection!

Praline French Toast

For conference weekend I always try to make a fun breakfast to eat while we watch. This year Mike was gone for the weekend on business so the kids and I went easy. I love baked french toast because all the prep work is done the night before. So when I found this recipe, I had to give it a try. I don't know that the picture does the french toast justice. It was moist, crunchy and heavenly, it reminded me of pecan pie! Give it a try, it might become one or your favorites as well.
