I have come to really enjoy these little treasures. I love to make these with soup or pasta, they are a nice change from the boring roll. They are quick, easy and super yummy, Mike eats a whole tray of them along with his dinner, plus more before he goes to bed. Give them a try, I'm sure they will become a family favorite as well.
Homestyle Bakes Scones
from Essential Mormon Celerations Cookbook
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 cups whipping cream, divided
1 1/2 cup cranberries (optional)
Sugar for dipping (I tried turbinado sugar, it was great! But you regular sugar works well too.)
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; stir well. Add 3 cups whipping cream, and cranberries; stir just until moist. Roll dough out on a well floured surface (you want them to be about 1/2 inch thick.) Using a glass or cookie cutter cut dough into circles. Dip tops of unbaked scones in reserved whipping cream and thenin sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet (12 per sheet). Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes. Serve warm with butter. Makes about 30 scones.
